Busy Mom Breakfasts

I'll be the first to admit that my kids love cereal and would be content with that nearly 7 days a week. It's a no effort breakfast for me because 3 out 4 of them can fix cereal with out assistance and they can help the one who does need help. I don't like to spend a lot of time on breakfast and cleanup because we have school work to get to but I have found a few easy, low clean up breakfast ideas that I have added into our morning routines with ease. Some things I have done forever and other things are wonderful Pinterest ideas.

Crock pot steel cut oats. How easy is this, plug in before bed and breakfast is ready when you wake up.
Here is a recipe for the basic way to do this.
1 - cup steel cut oats
3 1/2 - cups water
1/2 - cup half and half or milk
1 - cup dried fruit of choice, optional(apples, raisins,
cranberries, apricots etc)
1/4 - cup brown sugar
1 - tablespoon butter
1/2 - teaspoon vanilla extract
2-3 tablespoons cinnamon sugar
*you can skip the dried fruit and top with fresh fruit*
mix it all up and cook on low for 8-9 hours, it may dry out some you mix in some milk or yogurt to fix that.
here http://fooddoodles.com/2011/11/13/pumpkin-pie-steel-cut-oats-in-the-crockpot/ is a recipe for pumpkin pie steel cut oats I have not tried it but it looks yummy

Waffle Cinnamon rolls
This is easy and the kids love it. Simply get our your waffle maker and spray with Pam, take some refrigerated cinnamon rolls and place them on, close the waffle maker and in about 2-3 minutes your done. You can use the icing that comes with them, maple syrup, jam or just about anything your want. We like whipped cream and fruit on top of ours.

Organic Batter Blaster
Yeah this is a total slacker breakfast, pancake batter in a can, Its around $5 a can unless you find it marked down as I did this week for $2.49 (thanks Kroger) Its pancake/waffle mix in a whipped cream can. Its easy to use and make a real fluffy waffle.

Puffins
I love these, and pretty simple with minimal clean up and they freeze well if you are up for making a big batch.
1 cup bisquick
2/3 cup water
1/2 cup syrup
mix it all up and put in greased or paper lined muffin tins. before baking you can top them with bananas, chocolate chips, or even crumbled sausage. These are so easy and very yummy!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Apple rings and Banana nuggets
Another crowd pleaser
core, peel and slice apples
slice bananas at an angle
use your favorite pancake batter
dip the fruits in the batter and cook a buttered griddle
sprinkle with cinnamon sugar
You can drizzle honey or syrup over them but my kids like them just with cinnamon sugar
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mom Mc Muffins
Skip the fast food.
Pre cook some eggs in muffin tins, these are the perfect shape/size for English muffins
then you just toast some English muffins, heat a premade egg and add some cheese and a sausage patty, or favorite breakfast meat and your done.

Breakfast in a muffin
Love these and you can bag and freeze the extras
You just grease a muffin tin and add about 1/3 cup of scrambled egg and mix in your favorite veggies and breakfast meats, and some shredded cheese. Bake in the oven at 375 for about 30-35 minutes and thats all.

Breakfast Kabobs
You can use eggo waffles or your own premade waffles (I make large batches and have some in the freezer on a regular basis)
you need bamboo skewers for this. Cut up your cooked waffle into bite sized pieces and alternate waffle pieces with fruit we like strawberries and bananas. sprinkle on a little powder sugar and serve with a dipping cup of honey or syrup. This is a little more time consuming but the kids go gaga over this "fun" food.
